Illustrated portrait of Victor Gichohi

Engineering leader in African fintech and payments

I'm a software engineering manager and backend engineer based in Kenya. Over the past decade, I've built fintech and payments infrastructure across African markets, from mobile-money integrations and cross-border collections to stablecoin initiatives and the production systems that keep them reliable. My work brings together software architecture, APIs, distributed systems and cloud platforms. For the past three years, I've led a distributed engineering team across Kenya, South Africa and India, guiding platform migrations and building more secure, dependable systems.

What I’m working on

I’m sharpening software-architecture and distributed-systems fundamentals through an intensive side-of-desk programme, alongside an MSc in Advanced Computer Science. Cloud, AI and security sit around that core as supporting capabilities, with engineering leadership underneath it all. The long-term direction is toward architecture and senior technical leadership.
